NONGSTOIN: Poor mobile and internet services are a perennial problem for the people in West Khasi Hills.
Interrupted calls and internet connectivity has irked the people of the district especially in the time of the pandemic when all information are online.
Members of the FKJGP Rambrai circle feel that uninterrupted mobile connectivity with internet connection is still a distant dream for many in the district.
Residents of Rambrai, who depend on BSNL as it is the only service provider, are facing a lot of problems for the past two days after the tower stopped functioning.
The FKJGP on Sunday demanded of BSNL to solve the problem at the earliest.
Federation’s assistant publicity secretary Willford Nongbri said that the people are facing problems as there are no other service providers in the area except BSNL.
“During the COVID-19 crisis in the state, Rambrai has been deprived of all vital information regarding the ongoing situation in the state and in the district. With everything going online, it will be a big problem for everyone especially for students as admission is also done through the internet besides other business”, Nongbri said.
The BSNL tower in the area stopped functioning as the MePDCL disconnected the power connection to it recently as the company failed to pay the electricity bill, he added.
Therefore, the FKJGP has demanded that BSNL settle the issue with the MePDCL immediately to restore network connectivity soon.
