SHILLONG: Congress leader Zenith Sangma has alleged that a high risk contact of a positive patient is absconding and the authorities are yet to trace him.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Sangma said two days back, a returnee tested positive but his friend accompanying him has absconded.
The person who was tested positive after he went home is from Salmanpara, South West Garo Hills and due to some police case he had gone to Chennai, Sangma said, adding that he came back with a friend who is still absconding.
Since the positive patient and his friend mingled with the people, there are chances of community transmission, he claimed.
He also said the government should be strict in enforcing protocols especially against people who are not wearing masks.
Later, speaking to reporters, DHS (MI) Dr Aman War said he will seek a report on the high risk contact of a positive patient in Salmanpara.
Concern over result delay
The Congress also asked the government to ensure that the test results are released in time as there is a backlog
“The government should prioritise this. It is a matter of concern that the results are not coming even after one week and again they are collecting samples for tests leading to more delay”, he said.
