SHILLONG: Nilanjana Das is the only student this year who secured 19th position after enrolling in a private institution.
The student from Polo shared the position with Bawanpynshngain Nongrum of Church of God (Ecc), Secondary School, Shillong.
In the merit list of MBoSE, below the name of Nilanjana, only a private institution was mentioned.
According to MBoSE, the names of only affiliated schools with the Board are mentioned in the list.
Later, it was known that Nilanjana had enrolled with St Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Polo.
It was the school principal, CR Cherian, who provided the contact number of the student.
Nishi Kumar Das, the father of Nilanjana, said that the family is happy that her daughter brought laurel.
Nilanjana said she wants to pursue science aimed at MBBS.
“Believe in yourself. If you try, you can achieve anything,” is the encouraging message of the topper to the students.
