OIL readies for final capping of Baghjan well

GUWAHATI: The three well-capping experts from M/S Alert who sustained minor burn injury yesterday while removing the tubing head spool, are recuperating very well. The OIL doctors visited them in the guest house this morning and confirmed about good recovery.

Meanwhile, crew members of OIL, ONGC, Alert, Schlumberger and other contractors are at site of the raging gas well in Baghjan oil field and the final preparation for placing the Capping Stack is underway. The capping stack is ready and is wrapped up with ceramic blanket and ceramic cloths.

Sufficient chemicals are also in place at site. Recce already carried out for coil tubing job and BP placement after well killing operation, according to an OIL communique.

The gas well suffered blowout on May 27 last and caught fire on June 9 last
