SHILLONG: MDC of Balachanda Constituency, Sofior Rehman, has asked Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to open a new Primary Health Centre (PHC) and Community Health Centre (CHC) besides providing relief to the flood-hit villages.
In a statement on Thursday, Rehman said that the government should construct new CHCs at Bhaitbari and Kashiabari and also upgrade the Bhajamara sub-centre to PHC in West Garo Hills with the Rs 75 crore which was sanctioned for rural health centres.
He also urged the government to help the flood-affected people of Garo Hills.
The MDC requested for assistance to the poor for reconstruction of their houses, compensation for the paddy destroyed by the flood and liquidation of agriculture loan taken from the banks by the farmers.
