SHILLONG: Mawlai Traffic Branch of Shillong Traffc Police has been temporarily closed down with immediate effect in the wake of a police official of the traffic branch coming into contact with a COVID-19 patient.
The staff of the traffic branch are put under medical observation and the branch is being sanitised and disinfected as per laid down protocols. The branch will resume functioning only after being declared fit for re-occupation as per laid down protocols.
Meghalaya Police in an official memo called upon the general public residing under the jurisdiction of Mawlai Traffic Branch to contact nearby Lumdienjri Traffic Branch for assistance in traffic related issues.
The Mawlai Police Station, however, continues to function as usual.
