Meghalaya remembers Donkupar Roy on first death anniversary

GUWAHATI: Former Chief Minister and Speaker of Meghalaya, Dr. Donkupar Roy was remembered fondly on his 1st death anniversary today.

A prayer service ceremony was held at the Shillong residence of the former political stalwart which was attended by all big wigs Meghalaya politics.

‘Prayer ceremony at late Donkupar Roy’s residence in Shillong on his first death anniversary. We honour his life and immense contributions to our State’ Chief Minister Conrad Sangma tweeted.

Sangma paid tribute to late speaker on the occasion and said that he was revered for his humility and his dedication to the people of the state.

‘Dr. Donkupar Roy, former CM & Speaker of the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly served the State for over three decades. He was a friend of my Father, (L) Sh. P. A Sangma & was revered for his humility & his dedication to our people. Our humble tribute on his 1st death anniversary,’ Conrad further tweeted.
