SHILLONG: Meghalaya has decided to use service of COVID testing laboratory of CSIR, Jorhat to ramp up testing even as it has strengthened the health infrastructure in the state wherever possible.

Meghalaya’s Director of Health Services, Dr Aman War informed that the State health authorities were strengthening the health infrastructure wherever possible and would also get few hundred samples tested in CSIR Jorhat in Assam.

Admitting that as far as testing is concerned it is a challenge for the state authority, the DHS informed that he had received a mail from CSIR Jorhat informing that they have activated  eight RT-PCR machines.

Meghalaya government, hence, will tie up with the CSIR lab at Jorhat and start sending 300 samples a day to be tested in one of the eight machines functioning in the lab.
