5 more test positive for COVID-19 in Meghalaya

SHILLONG: Five new COVID-19 positive cases were detected in Meghalaya on Wednesday including two Armed Force personnel in East Khasi Hills (EKH) district, two BSF personnel in West Garo Hills (WGH) and one in Ri –Bhoi district.

State Health Minister A L Hek  informed that the total active COVID-19 positives cases in the state now stood at 572 which includes 291 civilians 291, 35 Armed Forces personnel and 246 BSF personnel. So far, 207 patients have recovered.

Meanwhile, Director of Health Services, Dr Aman War said that the State government had finished contact tracing in many of containment areas and more than 1100 contact tracing had been done till date and all had tested negative for COVID-19

Informing that contact tracing will continue in many other containment areas, the DHS, however, said that the state government would gradually withdraw containment zone restriction from the areas where people have tested negative for COVID-19.
