SHILLONG: The president of United Democratic Party (UDP), Metbah Lyngdoh, on Tuesday, said that the present leaders of the party will continue the development activities for the interest of the state.
Lyngdoh and other UDP leaders paid tributes to Donkupar Roy in Jatap, Shella, who held the position of party president and Speaker of Assembly when he passed away on July 28 last year. Roy was also former chief minister.
Lyngdoh said that the party felt a huge loss while crediting Roy for the firm presence of the party.
“We needed him the most as there were important discussions of development activities but, surprisingly, he passed away”, Lyngdoh said.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, cabinet ministers, MLAs and MDCs were also present.
On the day, Lyngdoh, who is also the Assembly Speaker, released a documentary – Remembering Dr. Donkupar Roy and his legacy.
