SHILLONG: Concerned about the surging positive cases, the Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) has urged the state government to conduct COVID-19 tests in every locality and village to check and prevent the spread of the dreaded virus.
In a statement, general secretary Roykupar Synrem also expressed concern that very less tests are being conducted. “The problem, as can be seen from the situation, is that it is not known who is suffering from the disease and who is not”, the organisation said.
It has urged the state government to not issue passes to people from outside asserting that such people are availing passes from the Agriculture and Horticulture department and walk around for buying vegetables, or other reasons, which could give way to further spread of the virus.
