Ayodhya: A team of senior officials visited the temple town on Friday and reviewed security as well as other arrangements including Covid-19 protocol for the Ram temple bhoomi pujan to be held here on August 5.
The team was headed by Uttar Pradesh chief secretary, RK Tewari, additional chief secretary, home, Awinish Awasthi, DGP, HC Awasthi, ADG (Lucknow Zone) SN Sabat, along with the senior officials of the State and Central Intelligence agencies.
Besides visiting the bhoomi pujan site, the team also visited Saket Vidalaya where the helipad has been made for landing of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s choppers.
The sleuths of the Special Protection Group (SPG) are already camping in Ayodhya to ensure that proper security protocol for PM’s visit is at place.
Sources here said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath might visit Ayodhya again to review all arrangements so that the event should be made ‘historic’.
It may be mentioned that senior officials of IG and above rank are already posted in all the nine sensitive districts adjoining Ayodhya to monitor the movement to Ram Mandir and to also help maintain law and order.
The government will also intercept the public on the way to Ayodhya as they are anticipating a large number of people to try and make their way to the foundation laying ceremony.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Aditynath instructed the Uttar Pradesh police to remain on high alert ahead of the bhoomi pujan event on August 5.
In a meeting with top security officials held on Thursday night, Yogi instructed them to keep a close watch on any ‘anti-social elements’ and prevent them from creating a law and order problem.
He also asked them to thwart any kind of subversive activity during the event. Besides, the officers were also told to ensure strict COVID-19 protocols during the event.
Yogi also appealed to the the people to watch the live bhoomi pujan programme from their houses rather than going to Ayodhya during this pandemic. He also urged the people to illuminated their houses and religious places by lightning diyas and candles on August 4 and 5. (UNI)
