SHILLONG: The executive members of the the Dorbar Shnong Jaiaw Laitdom on Sunday lauded Mebanrilang Wahlang for his courage and sense of responsibility to declare his COVID status.
In a meeting held, the Dorbar Shnong expressed respect to Wahlang, who is a resident of Jaiaw Lumsyntiew Block for his bold decision which can help and prevent community spread of the virus at a time when Meghalaya seeks to understand Behavioural Change.
Wahlang’s quick public response on his Facebook page and publicised by the mainstream media later on, was exemplary and created history, members of the dorbar shnong said.
The executive committee also acknowledged the support provided by the family members without which, it would have been challenging for the person to come out in the open.
The EC especially commented the role of the Dorbar Shnong Jaiaw Laitdom Community COVID-19 Management Team in providing guidance and assistance to Wahlang and other infected and affected persons under the Dorbar Shnong.
Such reassuring atmosphere is what led the infected persons and their families to believe that they have the backing of the entire Dorbar Shnong as they combat against the virus. The Dorbar also acknowledged the role of the state government through the district administration for its role in containing the spread of the virus.
