RBYF concerned over lack of facilities in Mawhati PHC
NONGPOH: Leaders of the Ri Bhoi Youth Federation (RBYF) Mawhati Circle have expressed concern over lack of facilities at the Mawhati PHC, which has affected the smooth functioning of the hospital. During an inspection conducted by the RBYF on Monday, the leaders accompanied by central members and Umsning Circle also met the doctor in-charge of the Mawhati PHC. “After the inspection, we came to know that this PHC is still lacking behind in various aspects, including electricity, water supply, quarters for the staff and others. This has affected the smooth functioning of the hospital and has put the patients, who come for treatment, in great difficulties,” the RBYF said. The Federation leaders also said that despite the PHC serving to more than 43 villages of Mawhati Constituency, the number of staff there was only 23. “The need of the hour is to upgrade this PHC into a CHC, considering the increasing population and the vast area it caters to, for the benefit and welfare of the people of this constituency,” the RBYF said. The Federation demanded of the state government to take immediate steps and ensure that the PHC is upgraded to a CHC, adding that it will not sit idle until a solution is rendered to the issue.
