Murder attempt
On August 2 evening, Newilstone N Marak (25) of Dumnikura, Gasuapara, South Garo Hills, attempted to murder two women — Mojith G Momin (53) and Podina G Momin (37) — with a ‘dao’. In the bid, the victims sustained injuries.
Extortion
Moiranthem Indubala Devi lodged a complaint that on August 2, around noon, Wahengbam Romeshkumar Singh along with his wife, Bemocha Devi, and five others forcibly entered into the complainants’ house at Madanrting, Shillong, and demanded money from her and her husband. On being refused, the accused threatened her with dire consequences. The complainant also said that on December 11, 2019, the accused had forged her signature to commit fraud.
