SHILLONG: Congress MLA Mayralborn Syiem said that the Meghalaya Electricity Corporation Limited (MeECL) should work unitedly to ensure the mandate of rural electrification.
Syiem along with other party legislators met the Chief Managing Director (CMD) of MeECL, A Nikhla, to apprise the officer of the difficulties faced by the residents of Ri Bhoi and the state as a whole.
The MLA suggested the CMD that the corporation should augment its manpower by appointing more linesmen, while appreciating the initiatives taken by the chief to improve the functioning of MeECL.
The party leaders also took up the issue of high amount of electricity bills and discussed on the modalities to ensure that the bills are accurate.
“Her (CMD) response was positive though she said that the process will take some time”, Syiem said, adding that hurdles are imminent as there is no corporation which is perfect.
He also lauded the coordination between the Dorbar Shnong and division officers.
Asked about pending bills, Syiem said they have discussed the matter and the MeECL will take it up effectively.
