Patient with comorbidity recovers at NEIGRIHMS

SHILLONG: A COVID patient with comorbidity was treated by NEIGRIHMS successfully.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the Public Relations Office, NEIGRIHMS said that amidst the rising COVID-19 cases in the state, there is “good news” in curing patients.
A 58-year-old senior government official and returnee from another state was referred to NEIGRIHMS from Civil Hospital, Shillong on July 13 with a case of fever and breathlessness (acute respiratory distress).
He is a known diabetic on insulin therapy and a known hypertensive. On admission his RT-PCR was positive for COVID-19 and his CT scan showed features of COVID lung damage, the statement said.
He was admitted in the high dependent unit (HDU) and treated conservatively with oxygen, low molecular weight heparin (LMWH), dexamethasone and antibiotics.
His condition improved and transferred to COVID isolation ward when asymptomatic, the medications were stopped on August 1.
He remained asymptomatic and was discharged on Saturday after his last two RT-PCRs became negative.
