SHILLONG: With the pandemic-induced restrictions failing to impede the operations of drug peddling, police have, in the last two days, arrested four people and have recovered a large quantity of suspected heroin from their possession.
East Khasi Hills Superintendant of Police, Sylvester Nongtyngner, said that on Sunday evening, the Anti Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) under city DSP, B Jyrwa, received inputs about the smuggling of a drug consignment from Guwahati to Shillong, following which they successfully intercepted the vehicle (ML-05-N8934) at Umiam View Point.
The driver, Jayantai Deb, revealed that one bag was kept under the seat by one, Arneston Dkhar, with the instruction to deliver the said consignment to his wife.

Later on, Haldora (24) of Mawlai Nongkwar Pata Rim and Jayantai Deb (50) were arrested.
