Protest against stone export
SHILLONG: Irked over the ongoing large-scale export of stone from Dalu port to Bangladesh, the Dalu Citizens Forum will stage a protest, or what they like to call, ‘Citizens Non Cooperation Movement’, on August 18 and 19 from 6 am to 6 pm. Pointing out at the failure to comply with the government protocols related to border trade, the forum, in a statement issued here on Wednesday, said that the administration has not limited the list of vehicles allowed to ply on a given day and granted innumerable trucks to operate creating traffic congestion at various places. Also, no screening/tests are conducted at the point of entry and even after the trucks return from Bangladesh, the forum said in a statement, while adding that trucks halt at multiple places en route to their destination.
