SHILLONG: With the objective of providing hassle-free services, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, on Thursday, formally launched the portal of the state Excise Department.
Besides facilitating application of online import permits for bonded warehouses, the online portal will allow them to opt for e-payment of the permits making it more convenient, faster and simpler.
It will also take the load off of concerned offices from having to deal with time-consuming offline payments through treasury challans.
The online facility is being extended to bonded warehouses on pilot basis. The department plans to extend the facility further and will soon start the issuance of export permits by companies as well as issuance of retailer permits to wine shops/bars. The government, eventually, plans to incorporate all services of the department online.
Earlier, the chief minister re-launched the redesigned Meghalaya State Portal in the presence of MR Synrem, Commissioner Secretary, Information Technology & Communication department and T Dkhar, DDG & SIO, NIC Meghalaya State Centre.
The redesigned portal has a new look and feel with improved UI/UX design making it more user-friendly.
The Meghalaya State Portal is a collaborative effort of the Department of Information Technology & Communication and NIC Meghalaya State Centre.
