Assam flood toll rises to 113

GUWAHATI: The flood situation in Assam has improved considerably with less than 6,000 people remaining affected in four districts even as the body of a person missing since Friday was recovered from Nowboicha revenue circle of Lakhimpur district.

The overall toll in the state since May has now climbed to 113, the Assam State Disaster Management Authority informed on Tuesday evening.

The affected districts are Lakhimpur (3800 people), Dhemaji (1822 people) while a negligible number of people are hit in Baksa and Charaideo.

The Brahmaputra however continues to flow above danger level in Jorhat, Sonitpur and Dhubri districts.
