SHILLONG: Following a recent incident wherein a resident of Mawbah alleged highhandedness on the part of police personnel posted at Jhalupara Outpost, police said that the allegation was “completely false and unfounded”.
After the complainant Sudin A Sangma found that the resident Vickey Dey and his wife Sushila Dey had submitted a written complaint to the Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills alleging that a policewoman B Marak had manhandled them, the couple was sent to Civil Hospital Shillong for medical examination on the same day.
However, the attending medical officer said that there were no injury marks or complaints of pain from the two persons. Hence, it was found that the couple’s allegation was false and unfounded, the complaint read.
“On July 30 afternoon, Marak along with CRPF personnel were discharging duty at Jhalupara when they intercepted the couple proceeding from Lumdiengjri area with a big sack containing vegetables, which were purchased without seeking permission from the headman of Mawbah, COVID-19 Management Committee or Police,” the police said, adding that the couple was allowed to go after being instructed regarding COVID-19 protocols and SOPs.
