39 new cases, tally up to 766

SHILLONG: The state reported 39 COVID-19 positive cases on Tuesday taking the total number of active cases to 766.
DHS (MI) Dr Aman War informed that out of the 39 cases, 27 were reported in East Khasi Hills.
In East Khasi Hills, out of the 27 cases, 11 are from BSF, 7 from Armed Forces, four reported positive during random testing in Rilbong, one is a contact of a patient in Meghalaya Institute of Mental Health and Neurological Science (MIMHANS) and another is a police contact while three are returnees.
Among the others, West Garo Hills reported seven cases, Ri Bhoi three, while East Jaintia Hills and South West Garo Hills reported one case each.
The three cases reported in Ri Bhoi are high-risk contacts of a positive patient from Mawsmai area while the person who tested positive in East Jaintia Hills is a returnee from Dubai and the one who tested positive in South West Garo Hills is a from Silchar.
In West Garo Hills, two positive cases are from BSF, one is a returnee from Assam and four were detected during the random testing in Tikrikilla.
Among the 766 active cases, 446 are in East Khasi Hills (BSF-80, Others-289, Armed Forces-77), three in West Khasi Hills, one in South West Khasi Hills, 103 in Ri Bhoi, four in West Jaintia Hills, six in East Jaintia Hills, 189 in West Garo Hills, four in South West Garo Hills, two in South Garo Hills and eight in North Garo Hills.
War said six people recovered on Tuesday taking the total number of recoveries to 685.
As many as 44,234 samples have been sent for testing out of which 42,330 returned negative while results of 447 were awaited.
The number of entrants to the state is 28,793 as on Tuesday.
