SHILLONG: The academic year for the students will be stretched till March-April next if the classes start from September-October.
Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui on Tuesday said that since the health of the students is important, there is a need to stretch the academic year beyond the current calendar year.
According to Rymbui, the Education department had already constituted a committee in April this year and it has submitted a report as to how to prepare the protocols for schools as and when the educational institutions reopen considering the health of the students.
“We have also done an exercise to teach the core subjects with limited class hours”, Rymbui said.
The Education minister, however, said that it is also necessary for the students to learn something before the completion of academic year and hence core subjects will have to be taught.
