SHILLONG: The Office of the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Shillong, on Wednesday organised a webinar on the ‘Faceless Assessment Scheme’, which was launched last year.
This new tax initiative is in pursuance with the Budget speech of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman titled ‘Transparent Taxation – Honouring the Honest’, which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 13, 2020.
The webinar was hosted by Rahul Karna, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, Shillong, under the chairmanship of Rajkumar Lachhiramka, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Shillong, to sensitise various stakeholders of the scheme and seek their feedback, queries and suggestions.
In total, there were 136 participants that included officers and officials of the Department and members of various associations of chartered accountants, tax practitioners and Chambers of Commerce from Shillong, Silchar, Agartala, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia.
