Farmers to get training on oyster farming, Shiitake mushrooms
SHILLONG: In a move to uplift the conditions of farmers in Mawkynrew, the Mushroom Development Centre, Upper Shillong, has come up with a 20-day training programme at Good Shepherd School Auditorium, Jongksha. Minister of Agriculture & Horticulture, Banteidor Lyngdoh, was present along with other officials during the training programme. The farmers, during the 20-day period, will be trained on farming of oyster and Shiitake mushrooms. Lyngdoh said that the government intends to increase mushroom production from 27 metric ton to 5000 metric ton within five years. He also urged the farmers to avail the facilities and schemes of the government to sustain their livelihood. He was also optimistic about the farmers benefitting from the training programme.
SK oil prices revised in EJH
KHLIEHRIAT: The East Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner (Supply), has revised the rates of SK oil with immediate effect for the month of August. The wholesale price at Khliehriat has been fixed at Rs. 29.60 while the same at Sonapur Oil Agency has been fixed at Rs 29.81. At Sutnga Sub-Depot, the wholesale price has been fixed at Rs. 33.72. Meanwhile, the retail price at Khliehriat has been fixed at Rs 31.50, at Sonapur Oil Agency the price has been fixed at Rs 31.71 and at Sutnga Sub-Depot, the retail price has been fixed at Rs. 35.62. The retail price for FPS centre beyond 5 km from wholesale outlet at Khliehriat, Sonapur and Sutnga will be fixed by the concerned vigilance committee.
NFSA, non-NFSA rice released
SHILLONG: The Sub-Divisional Officer (Supply), Sohra Civil Sub-Division has said that rice under NFSA (AAY and PHH) and non-NFSA for August has been released through the respective fair price shops. The scale of issue is 35 kg per card at Rs 3 per kg for AAY quota, 5 kg per head at Rs 3 per kg for PHH and 7.215 kg per household at Rs 12 per kg for non-NFSA beneficiaries. Rice for free of cost under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) has also been released at 5 kg per head for AAY and PHH beneficiaries for the month of July and August.
Woman missing
SHILLONG: One Temui Neihsial (24), D/O (L) Kh. Moran and a resident of Madanriting Block-E, Thembasuk, Shillong, has been missing from her residence since August 21. According to a police statement on Thursday, the missing person is 159-cm tall while her built is normal. She bears an oval-shaped face and her complexion is fair. She also has a small mole on the left side of her nose bridge and the colour of her hair is black. The languages she speaks are Manipuri, English and Hindi.
