Sonowal condoles demise of former President Pranab Mukherjee

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal condoled the death of former President of India, veteran politician and Bharat Ratna Pranab Mukherjee.

In a statement here today, Chief Minister Sonowal said that Pranab Mukherjee was an embodiment of value-based politics. A towering personality, he contributed immensely to political and other aspects of the country.

He worked dedicatedly for projecting India on different national and international forums. A true statesman, a tall and multi-dimensional figure of Indian politics, his death will be great loss to the country. Considered as people’s man, he worked for the welfare of people of all sections. His contributions to politics, economy, history, diplomacy along with others were unparalleled.

Saddled in the highest post of the country as the President from 2012 to 2017, he strengthened the democratic principles of Indian polity. With his death, the country lost an able son. However, he left behind a rich legacy of his works which will be a source of inspiration for the posterity.

Besides expressing his compassion with the bereaved family members, Sonowal prayed to the Almighty for eternal peace of the departed soul.
