SHILLONG: KHNAM MLA, Adelbert Nongrum, has urged Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to take measures for deferment of final-year examinations of NEHU.
In a letter to Conrad, Nongrum claimed he received complaints that NEHU Vice-Chancellor, SK Srivastava, has no conscience to understand the plight of students.
“A small segment of teachers, officials and other sycophants of Prof. Srivastava has imposed an online/blended mode of final examination on students across the board without addressing any issue of access, connectivity and other hiccups when the cases are on the rise in the state,” he said.
Alleging that a small coterie of teachers and officials is exploiting the office of the Vice-Chancellor, he said Prof. Srivastava is trying to put pressure on students to complete the final-year examination by September 30.
He also added that the University has been asking students to pay examination fees at a time when the families of most of the students have no source of income.
“The imposition of payment of examination fees also shows Prof. Srivastava’s mala fide intent of collecting fees even though students are not in a position to write the final examination,” the KHNAM MLA said.
