TURA/NONGSTOIN: As part of the nationwide launch of POSHAN Abhiyan, National Nutrition Mission, for the third consecutive year, the deputy commissioners of West Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills launched the Poshan Maah on Tuesday.
Speaking during the programme at Nikrang A’ding Anganwadi Centre in Tura, WGH DC Ram Singh said the aim was to make India malnutrition-free by providing adequate nutrition to infants, pregnant and lactating mothers.
Meanwhile, the programme in Nongstoin, thematised on ‘Identification & Management of Severely Acute Malnourished Children’, was launched by West Khasi Hills DC T Lyngwa at the Conference Hall of the DC’s office, Nongstoin. He lauded the efforts and the initiatives taken by the department and urged block coordinators, Aganwadi workers and ASHAs to increase home visit in each block and village-level and sensitise the families.
