Ranveer Singh’s Gully Boy inspired Masaba to act
Fashion designer Masaba Gupta, who made her act ing debut with the web show Masaba Masaba,
has shared it was the Ranveer Singh film Gully Boy that inspired her to act. “‘Oh ab actress banegi?’- all of us need anchors. Sometimes we find them within ourselves & sometimes in stories or moments in other peoples lives.I’ve mentioned earlier that many people dissed the show even before we began filming. And as strong as you think you are …it’s hard to drown the noise out when you’re doing something for the first time. It was also harder because I was juggling design at the label and shooting at the same time & found my head stuck at work many times when I was on set. “This particular scene was my anchor through the whole Masaba Masaba experience. This one line..through all the fear, excitement, rage and more. I watched Gully Boy just once, but this stuck with me forever. And now it’s in my treasure chest of memories to dip in to,each time I feel lost. Thanks Zoya and Ranveer,” she wrote on Instagram. Along with her note, Masaba posted a clip of the scene from Gully Boy where Vijay Raaz reminds Ranveer’s character that he is naukar ka beta and he should not dream of becoming a rapper. To which, Ranveer replies: Koi dusra mujhe batayega main kaun hai? (IANS)

Maniesh Paul’s short film Hichki to create awareness
TV host and actor Maniesh Paul features in a short film titled Hichki, meaning hiccups. He says the
idea behind the film was to create a little awareness. Manish says his short film is about “this character who keeps getting hiccups”, adding that “it is said that (if you) take that person’s name who misses you and the hiccup stops.” He shared a few details about the plot. The film, he says, is about a character who goes to buy groceries one day, and suddenly a name crosses his mind and his hiccups stop. “That is when he remembers that there was a boy on the road who he would keep giving groceries, and because of the lockdown he has not been able to go to that boy. Then he recalls that boy was remembering him,” Manish added. The film is about “how we become selfish” and how people “keep thinking about themselves but there are so many people on the roads about whom we don’t even think about”. The film is directed by Kulish Kant Thakur and also stars Mukti Mohan. It was launched by Amitabh Bachchan on his social media. (IANS)

Dino Morea plays negative role in Hostages 2
Actor Dino Morea will essay a negative character with no remorse or regret in the second season
of the web series, Hostages. “It’s a pretty potent role. He is negative, crazy and a harmful character. He has no remorse, no regret and is absolutely cold! So I felt under this sweet looking face, which I supposedly have, there could be some menace, there could be some craziness, and then I thought I might as well do it. Let’s see if I can bring that out,” Dino said about his character. Talking about joining the show, he said: “I am extremely thrilled to be part of a successful franchise. The first season has been fantastic and now season 2 is going to be even better.” The series revolves around a renowned surgeon who is ordered to assassinate the chief minister, in exchange for the life of her family. It stars Ronit Roy Bose and Tisca Chopra. The second season will launch on Disney+ Hotstar VIP on September 9. (IANS)
