TURA: Swift action from law enforcement agencies in Garo Hills led to the successful rescue of three traders and arrest of the kidnappers gang from Dadenggre region of West Garo Hills on Monday night.

The criminal gang from that area abducted three traders from Chibinang who had gone to Magalpara village in a mahindra pik up vehicle to unload a shipment of bricks for construction purposes on Saturday last. Magalpara is located between Dadenggre and Chibinang.

After keeping the traders captive in a jungle hideout the criminals called up the victims families demanding ransom for their release.

“As soon as we got to know of the abduction we set up a special team headed by Shailendra Bamaniya, IPS and additional SP of Tura along with officers from Dadenggre, Phulbari, Tura CCIC and Purakhasia. The team was specifically tasked to rescue the victims and arrest the abductors, as soon as possible, by developing leads and launching relentless operations,” revealed West Garo Hills superintendent of police MGR Kumar.

Based on human intelligence, police came to know about the upcoming payment of ransom and arrested the man who was tasked with collecting the ransom money.

Based on his confession, police raiding teams launched an operation inside the Magalpara-Kantanagre forests and busted the hideout arresting the two kidnappers and safely rescued the traders.
