NONGSTOIN: Riangdo Community Health Centre in West Khasi Hills received a new ambulance under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund scheme on Monday.
The ambulance was handed over to the health centre by Mawshynrut MLA Gigur Myrthong in the presence of health officials. Riangdo CHC was one of the most neglected CHC in West Khasi Hills, without having sufficient staff and proper health facilities and for many years the CHC has no Ambulance to refer patients from one hospital to another. While expressing his gratitude to chief minister Conrad Sangma, Myrthong said that it is a blessing for the people of the area to receive the ambulance. Now, patients can be transferred to bigger hospitals in Nongstoin and Mairang or even to Shillong for better treatment, he said.
Myrthong has earlier donated 10 blankets to the 10 bedded PHC in Shallang and 30 to Riangdo CHC.
He also lauded the efforts of all the health workers for working tirelessly during the Covid-19 pandemic.
While, expressing their gratitude to the MLA, Dr M. Bareh, DM&HO West Khasi Hills has requested him to sanction one more four wheel ambulance for Riangdo CHC.
