TURA: Boldamgre MDC and Vice President of the MPYC, Stevie M Marak has written to the Executive Member in charge of Revenue in the GHADC seeking his immediate action with regard to an illegal appointment of a Gaonbura under his constituency.

According to Marak, the illegal appointment came to light after a complaint was received from the Nokma of Chondonpara A’king II-21 (2), Walson M Marak, where he informed that one, Abdul Safi, son of late Abdul Kadir has been illegally elected as the Headman of Doguripara Village. Marak further informed that while the said village falls under his jurisdiction, his consent was never taken and the illegal appointment was done with the approval of the President of the Garobadha Village Council.

The letter from the President of the Garobadha Village Council approving the illegal appointment was also produced in the MDC’s complaint to the EM in charge of Revenue.

“This is completely illegal and unacceptable. How can a village council approve the appointment of a headman when there is already a Nokma under whose jurisdiction the village falls? Action needs to be taken against all those involved immediately,” the Boldamgre MDC demanded.

According to the MDC, the incident is not an isolated one and such appointments are taking place in other areas as well. Reminding that the only authority to appoint a Gaonbura is the EM in charge of Revenue, Marak demanded that action be taken to immediately cancel the illegal appointment.
