SHILLONG: Opposition chief whip and Congress MLA, PT Sawkmie, has sought the intervention of Governor Satya Pal Malik to sort out the issues in North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) and restore the normal functioning of the university.
In his petition to the Malik, Sawkmie has asked of the Governor to step in and save the image of the university where students and staff have been protesting against the vice chancellor, SK Srivastava. “It is unfortunate that NEHUTA, NEHUNTA and NEHUSU took to the streets against the failure of the vice chancellor,” he said.
The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of NEHUTA, NEHUNTSA and NEHUSU had on Tuesday staged a silent protest alleging all-round failure, non-performance and absence of the vice chancellor and had also demanded non-extension of his term in office.
