State joins PM’s b’day jolly

SHILLONG: With Prime Minister Narendra Modi turning 70 on Thursday, the state also joined the nationwide jamboree, where the state BJP leaders heaped praises on the achievements of the prime minister and the party in general.
With birthday greetings pouring in for the prime minister from across the globe, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and Governor Satya Pal Malik also wished the prime minister.
“Wishing our Honourble Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi Ji, a blessed 70th birthday. We honour his bold leadership and appreciate his commitment towards taking India forward into new frontiers along with the dreams and aspirations of millions of Indians,” Conrad took to Twitter and said.
Malik, on the other hand, said, “I would like to take this opportunity to wish you many many happy returns of the day and convey my heartfelt greetings to you on the auspicious occasion. Today, the nation is engaged in a fierce battle against COVID-I9 on one hand and is facing hostile neighbours on the international borders on the other. However, under your decisive and firm leadership, we are destined to emerge victorious in all challenges both internal and external”.
The state BJP on Thursday celebrated Modi’s birthday at the BJP office.
BJP leader and Health Minister, AL Hek, hailed Modi for the groundbreaking reforms that the country has beheld under the prime minister’s regime.
Stating that Modi is a man who started from scratch to reach to the highest office in the country, Hek said that during the last eight months, the prime minister has ensured pensions to farmers, labourers and shopkeepers.
The state Health minister also pointed out that the BJP-led NDA government has launched the Jal Shakti Mission to ensure that every household has drinking water facility and has doled out a special fund of 25,000 crore for completing the housing project for middle-class and the poor, particularly the BPL families.
Hek also spoke about Triple Talaq, which he deemed a landmark move for the welfare of Muslim women.
He said that the development of road under the PMGSY scheme, which was introduced by former Prime Minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, continues till today.
Hek also spoke about the Bodo Peace Accord where the prime minister has assured the Bodo people of all-round development and of Bodoland.
Speaking on the abrogation of Article 370, Hek said, “He (Modi) had taken a bold step to revoke Article 370 for development and peace of the state and also to make Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh the union territories, thereby ensuring all-round development and peace for the people of Jammu and Kashmir”.
