Losing Ludo game, daughter approach family court
Bhopal: A 24-year-old woman has approached a family court after she lost a Ludo game to her father.
The matter came up before family court counsellor Sarita Rajani in the Madhya Pradesh capital here. The daughter has said that she has been experiencing alienation from her father ever since the outcome in the board game.
Rajani told reporters that the woman has told her she has lost respect for her father and even felt hesitation in calling him “father”.
Rajani said the father-daughter relation was better earlier and only the board game defeat led to the crisis. (Ians)
Periyar statue found smeared
Tiruchirappalli (TN): A statue of reformist leader E V Ramasamy “Periyar” here was found smeared with saffron dye on Sunday by unidentified miscreants, drawing strong responses from political leaders in Tamil Nadu.
A slipper was also found near the statue at Samathuvapuram colony in Inamkulathur here early this morning, police said, adding, a case has been registered for defacing and vandalising the statue.
Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam condemned the vandalism and assured that stringent legal action would be taken against those involved. Political leaders, including DMK chief M K Stalin slammed the incident. (PTI)
Tension erupts over Maoist poster
Kolkata: The recovery of Maoist posters in West Bengal’s Birbhum district sparked off tension among the villagers on Sunday.
The Maoist posters mentioning names of local Trinamool Congress leaders were seen at Batikar village in Parui. The local residents immediately informed the police about the incident.
Later, the police tore off all the posters and started an investigation into the matter. A few days ago, similar Maoist posters were also found at Parui area near Illambazar in Birbhum. (IANS)
India-Pak troops exchange fire
Jammu: Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged fire for nearly 30 minutes after the Border Security Force (BSF) picked up suspicious movement along the International Border in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said on Sunday.
No one was injured in the firing which started around 11.45 pm on Saturday in Mangu Chak Border Outpost (BOP) area of Ghagwal sector, the officials said.
They said BSF troops deployed at BOP Mangu Chak observed movement of three to four persons near Pakistani post Pir Bunker and opened fire after they were seen moving towards this side under the cover of darkness. (PTI)
Boy mauled to death
Lakhimpur Kheri: A 14-year-old boy was killed on Sunday in a suspected leopard attack in Dhaurahra range of North Kheri forest division.
The boy, Chandan, was a resident of Sahabdeenpurwa village, forest officials said.
According to the villagers, the boy had gone to the fields to collect grass for his livestock when a leopard attacked and killed him. (PTI)
