COVID scene in Lower Mawprem alarming: MLA

SHILLONG: Rise in the number of cases of COVID-19 in the state has been alarming but particular areas had witnessed bulk of positive cases, for instance, the Keating Road area.
Of late, the situation in Lower Mawprem has seemed hair-raising as more than 70 positive cases have been reported in the area so far. West Shillong MLA, Mohendro Rapsang, however, said that the COVID-19 teams including Asha workers are going all out in containing the virus in the locality.
Stating that the situation is alarming since the area is very congested, the MLA said that he is ensuring all necessary help for the affected people in the area. “The situation is alarming but under control,” the West Shillong MLA said,
while adding that the places from where cases are being reported are contained.
“An entire compound in Lumdiengjri has been contained. We are providing whatever necessary help,” he said.
He also said that the district administration and the Health department are effectively making all attempts to contain the spread of the disease in the affected areas.
