Ex gratia for kin of Tihiang victims

MAWKYRWAT: The Deputy Commissioner of South West Khasi Hills District, Cara Kharkongor, on Thursday, released ex gratia payment of Rs 4 lakh under State Disaster Relief Fund for the next of kin of the six victims of the Tihiang mishap.
As many as six persons died on September 22, when a vehicle carrying a group of 8 people from Mawjai village in Warsan Lyngdoh area, was washed away by the Tihiang River.
Earlier, the Khasi Students’ Union had met the DC seeking compensation for the families of the victims of Tihiang incident.
