SHILLONG: Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) MDC Bajop Pyngrope has said that the government should keep COVID-19-infected patients in the hospital and not at home, while also stating that the headmen were right in expressing their apprehensions in keeping positive patients in the localities.
He added that the government is duty-bound to create hospitals for isolating patients and negative pressure room.
The Congress MDC also said that the government should follow up on contact tracing and tests liberally and to have in place a strong and regular communication on what people can do to minimise risk.
Banking on organised leadership, he also said that there is no need to go for lockdown based on fear.
Calling upon the need to unite and set aside differences, Pyngrope said that there is no need to score brownie points when the Opposition has rightly raised issues pertaining to areas where the state government has failed.
The MDC added that the government should be frugal instead of spending Rs 200 crore without prioritising expenditure.
