SHILLONG: The Eastern Air Command (EAC) celebrated the 88th Air Force Day at its headquarters here on Thursday, with its chief calling for reinforcing the security of IAF bases.
Indian Air Force Day is commemorated on October 8 every year to mark the foundation day of the Air Force. This year the 88th anniversary of IAF day is special as the newly-inducted Rafale fighter aircraft became a part of the Indian Air Force Day fly-past. A total 56 aircrafts were there for aerial display and 11 jets on static display.
On the occasion, Air Marshal Amit Dev, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, EAC, administered oath to all EAC personnel and awarded commendations to air warriors and civilians who have excelled in their field, a statement issued here said. Dev urged the personnel to enhance operational capability, conduct safe flying and augment security of bases.
