Fishery cooperative society gets oxygenated van

AMPATI: An oxygenated van for transportation of fish seed was handed over to members of Man’chak Integrated Village Fishery Cooperative Society (IVFCS), Dengnakpara under Rerapara C&RD Block in South West Garo Hills by Deputy Commissioner, AM Sangma, on Friday.
The first-of-its-kind oxygenated van was sanctioned under the scheme Blue Revolution 2017-2018 at a cost of Rs 11.66 lakh.
The oxygenated van would come in handy to close to 350 fish farmers registered under the cooperative society to transport live fry, fingerlings and brood fish.
The vehicle was handed over to the society in the presence of Rerapara BDO, RZD Shira, Superintendent of Fisheries-cum-DEO, FFDA, Ampati, G Momin, and other district officials.
The DC congratulated the members of the society and expressed hope that such innovative scheme would bring about a positive change in the fishery sector as well as in the lives of the fish farmers in the district.
