SHILLLONG: The Shillong Meteorological Centre, India Meteorological Department (IMD), has warned of likely inundation, landslides, mudslide and falling of trees in low-lying areas, while also informing that moderate to heavy rainfall is likely to be witnessed in Meghalaya on Saturday.
In an update, as on Friday 8.30 pm, the centre said, “Moderate to heavy rainfall is very likely. Latest Sohra Radar image indicates light to moderate with heavy rainfall spells sometimes is very likely during night. Light to moderate rainfall is very likely to continue in Shillong and neighborhood”.
The centre further warned of reduced visibility as a result of the rainfall.
It also advised the public to avoid going to areas facing frequent water logging problems, staying in vulnerable structures and going near river streams.
