SHILLONG: Days after the state government gave the green light to the bars to function, the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner (Excise) on Friday allowed bars in the district to reopen from October 31. However, according to the order, the bars will have to function with strict compliance to the COVID-19-related SOPs.
“All the licensees are required to intimate the office of the Deputy Commissioner (Excise), East Khasi Hills, upon reopening and submit an undertaking that SOPs will be strictly adhered to. Spot inspection will be conducted for verification of strict adherence to SOPs,” the statement said, adding that violation of any SOP with entail immediate closure of the premises.
It may be mentioned that the bars in the state were shut for months owing to the outbreak of COVID-19 and the subsequent lockdown.
