Call for probe into Ichamati harassment allegations

SHILLONG: The Seng Phira Hima Mawlong has urged the Sirdar of Hima Mawlong, Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) as well as the state government to investigate into the allegations of harassment meted out to the non-tribals residing in Ichamati, and also demanded action against people who have been disseminating rumours.
In a statement issued here, general secretary of Seng Phira Hima Mawlong, Shembhalang Chyne, and chairman, W Khyllep, have condemned the allegations made by the trio – Prantush Sarkar, Mridul Das and Binayak Roy. The trio had earlier alleged that the non-tribals in Ichamati were being harassed. (Contd on P-10)
