Cop, another held with drugs

SHILLONG: A policeman was among two people who have been arrested with 10.57 grams of yellow-orange powder suspected to be heroin.
According to the police, on Wednesday, around 11:20 pm, acting on inputs, they intercepted one local taxi (ML-04B-7430) at Mawryngkneng, driven by Imtikumba Shylla along with the occupant, Theosophy Sutnga (46), who is an armed branch constable posted in Shillong.
During the search of the vehicle, police recovered the powder and Rs 52,500 in cash from them.
Subsequently, the police arrested the duo and kept them at Youth Hostel, Shillong. They have been tested for COVID-19 and the results are awaited.
Meanwhile, one person identified as Mahanta Deka, who was arrested in another case, and whose tests result was pending, escaped from Youth Hostel Shillong.
