Scholarships
The East Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner has informed that applications (fresh and renewal) from students, who are permanent residents of Meghalaya, are invited for the year 2020-21 to avail scholarship schemes. The application forms can be downloaded from http://megeducation.gov.in. The applications have to be sent on or before December 15.
Sensitisation
Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority will organise a sensitising programme on ‘Legal Services to Workers of the Unorganised Sector’ at Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute from 10 am to 1 pm on Wednesday.
Office-bearers
The new office-bearers of Niram A’ding Youth Club (NAYC) were elected in a meeting held recently. The club elected Siraz M Sangma as president, Brything M Sangma as vice president, Sanjith M Marak as general secretary, Silrak G Momin as joint secretary, Tasha R Marak as organising secretary, Sungchi Elute T Sangma as publicity secretary, Hollin A Sangma as art and culture secretary, Vera Rakran A Sangma as social welfare secretary, Krikchi Ch Marak as literacy secretary, Eightina Marak as treasurer, Cronyo K Marak as accountant, Brithing T Sangma as sports secretary, etc.
Price hike
The West Jaintia Hills Deputy Commissioner, Supply, has directed all traders of essential commodities to not hike the price and hoard the essential commodities, especially pulses and onion. Instructing the traders to display stock-cum-price boards in front of their shops, the DC has warned stern action against violators.
NGO formed
Hynniewtrep Achik People Democratic Alliance was formed with V Wanniang as its president; working presidents — Pyndap Saiborne in charge of Khasi Hills, Salang Sangma and Billy Kid Sangma in charge of Garo Hills, Balius Swer and Lamdibok Sumer in charge of Jaintia Hills; and others.
