TURA, Nov 13: Police in South Garo Hills on Friday recovered a single-barrel shotgun along with ammunition that was buried in a forest by surrendered ULFA deputy commander-in-chief, Dristi Rajkhowa.
Villagers from the Bolbokgre area of Rongara approached police and alleged that Rajkhowa had, several months ago, made them conceal the gun in a forest for later use. Bolbokgre forests was the site of an encounter between Dristi Rajkhowa and his cadres with police, two weeks ago, after which he fled to Bangladesh, which was just across the border.
Facing imminent capture by RAB security forces from Bangladesh, he returned to Garo Hills on Tuesday and surrendered himself to the army along with four other cadres at Dilsengre village near Baghmara, South Garo Hills.
