Noh Ka Likai to reopen for tourists from Nov 18

SHILLONG, Nov 16: Famed tourist spot in Sohra – the Noh Ka Likai falls and others is all set to welcome tourists from November 18 as per an order issued by the Dorbar Khliehshnong, Sohra on Monday.
In a statement issued here, the Dorbar Khliehshnong has decided to reopen tourist spots, home stay, guest houses, resorts and restaurants but have also issued a direction to follow the protocols of the government and village rules while visiting the places.
“The environment committee and the tourism committee, Dorbar Khliehshnong has fervently appealed to all visitors to not pollute the environment and packets of eatables should not be thrown indiscriminately. Violators will be fined oraction will be taken as per the conditions of theShnong”, the statement from the Dorbar shnong said.
The headman of Dorbar Khliehshnong, Shembhalang Kharwanlang has written to the Sub-Divisional Officer, Sohra Civil Sub-Division that as per the meeting held on November 6 in the office of the SDO (C ) Sohra, the Dorbar Khliehshnong Sohra has taken the resolution to resume all tourism activities.

Sohra deprived of schemes
MDC of Sohra constituency and KHADC Titos Chyne expressed concern that places categorised as census towns in Sohra are deprived of government schemes.
Pointing out that Khlieh Shnong, Maraikaphon, Saitsohpen, Maw Ki Syiem, Pdeng Shnong, Nongrim, Pomsohmen, Kutmadan do not get urban and rural schemes, the MDC said that he will write to the minister concerned to exempt the villages from census towns.
