When we learn computers we also hear a lot about ‘data’. I am not trying to explain anything in academic perspectives but when we hear data we think something related to the system or computers.  Apart from computer’s world, we use the term ‘data’ as databases have become a common word for many who are into marketing or business. We have witnessed the Pandemic situation and life was not normal this year when there was full lock down everywhere. Jobs were lost and nothing new could be seen. Now post Pandemic there will be many challenges for the job aspirants in all over the country. We have to prepare ourselves for the jobs and one area where we could see more potential and opportunities is in the field of Data Science.
Data science is an interdisciplinary field that uses scientific methods, processes, algorithms and systems to extract knowledge and insights from many structural and unstructured data. It is related to data mining, machine learning and big data.  It is a “concept to unify statistics, data analysis and their related methods” in order to “understand and analyze actual phenomena” with data. It uses techniques and theories drawn from many fields within the context of mathematics, statistics, computer science, domain knowledge and information science.
We are talking about an option which is going to have more demands in near future. There is no shadow of doubt that Data Science is one of the fastest-growing and popular fields right now. Companies across various sectors of the industry are experimenting with and adopting Data Science technologies like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Natural Language Processing. As a result, the demand for qualified and skilled Data Science professionals is going to increase all over the countries and more importantly in leading cities and metros where there are main offices of big companies or corporations.
Many courses are available in the country including online mode. Through online mode is available but there are institutes which offer full time regular courses in the field of Data Science.
There are courses like Business Analytics Certification Program, Post Graduate Certification in Data Science, Post Graduate Diploma in Data Science, Master of Science in Data Science, Advance Programme in Data Science, etc. The courses offered by different institutes are well equipped and well designed looking at the needs of the market and making aspirants ready for the job market. It covers fields such as Big Data, Machine Learning, Business Intelligence, Predictive Analytics, Data Visualization, Statistics & Optimisation, Natural Language Processing, Data Visualisation, etc.
Corporate and business houses need data scientists which brings more demand for aspirants who are trained in this field. Companies can make better decisions by extracting and analyzing data.  Companies have their own requirements and use data accordingly which enables data scientists to get placement. Students coming from science backgrounds can excel easily by becoming data scientists. Students from North East may also take up courses related to Data Science and work in different cities or metros but they must also possess certain employability skills to be successful in this field. It’s a new field for many but Pandemic has taught us that if we do not cope up with times then we shall be left behind.
