Golf Course to be revamped: Hek

SHILLONG, Nov 30: The Shillong Golf Course is all set to get a major facelift with the state government on Monday announcing its upgrade in view of the upcoming National Games in 2022.
Speaking to media persons here on Monday, Health Minister and local MLA, AL Hek, asserted that necessary process to sanction funds for the project is on.
He, however, admitted that it will be a herculean task for the government as the road bisecting the Golf Course needs to be realigned for which necessary survey has been conducted.
Hek further assured of fully repairing the road from Lailad to Nongmensong, which has been in a dilapidated condition.
“We are not going to only repair it but we are going to resurface the entire road,” the minister said.
Shillong Golf Course takes pride in being one of the oldest, largest and finest natural golf circuits across the world.
Owing to its greenery and scenic beauty, the United States Golf Association and Museum has also given it the title of ‘Gleneagles of the East’.
